West Country PCSO charged with rape

It's alleged the incident happened in South Gloucestershire in 2016

Avon and Somerset Police say a Police Community Support Officer has been charged with rape.

It's alleged the incident happened in South Gloucestershire in December 2016, when the PCSO was off-duty.

The 41-year-old, who is based in Bristol has been suspended since reports of the incident were made to police in December 2021.

Police say they launched an investigation "immediately" following this.

A referral has also been made to the policing watchdog (IOPC) who say the circumstances were suitable for local investigation by Avon and Somerset Police.

As well as this, the Professional Standards Department are looking into the claims about possible breaches of professional standards behaviour.

Avon and Somerset Police say they take allegations of violence against women and girls "extremely seriously"

The 41-year-old is due to appear in court in Bristol on Friday 14th July.
