West Country 'leading the way' as comic con events grow in popularity

Somerset's biggest ever comic con has taken place, with organisers saying the demand to dress up as comic book, movie, games or sci-fi character here keeps growing.

A few years ago Taunton hosted the far West Country's inaugural comic con event - with more places now following suit. The growing popularity in the region has resulted in a number of cosplay (costume play) groups springing up, including in Somerset.

Falmouth based UK Comic Games Festivals or UKCGF say there's now a growing community, and events are a fun way to connect with like-minded people all sharing similar passions.

More than 1,000 people attended the season-opening Taunton event at Priorswood Leisure Centre.
