Trowbridge drink driver banned from roads and jailed for 13 weeks
37-year-old Lukas Rogal's roadside breath test had a reading of 54 - the legal limit is 35
A drink driver who was stopped in Trowbridge last week has been jailed for 13 weeks.
Lukas Rogal, 37, of Union Street, was pulled over by police at around 11.45pm last Friday (3 December) after officers were concerned about his manner of driving on Bythesea Road.
When they spoke to him, he was slurring his words, so they performed a roadside breath test, which had a reading of 54. The legal limit is 35.
He was arrested and taken into custody at Melksham Police Station.
Once in custody it was revealed that Rogal was also wanted on warrant for breaching a court order linked to previous driving offences.
Rogal appeared at Swindon Magistrate Court on Saturday (4 December) and pleaded guilty to drink driving, driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
He was disqualified from driving for 36 months and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of ÂŁ128.
Due to his previous driving offences, he was jailed for a total of 13 weeks.
PC James Bryant, from Trowbridge Community Policing Team, said: "Wiltshire Police is currently running its annual Christmas drink and drug drive campaign and cases like this prove why we need to continue to remind the public about the dangers of driving while under the influence.
"We cannot emphasise enough the risk that drink drivers pose, not only to themselves, but to other road users and we will continue to do everything we can to get these selfish motorists off our roads.
"If you are worried that someone you know is regularly driving under the influence of drink or drugs then please call 101, or, if they are already behind the wheel, then dial 999."
