More than £14,000 has been raised for a man who died after an incident in a pub car park in the early hours of the second of March.
Scott Hendy’s been called a ‘highly regarded local footballer’ and ‘one of the funniest teammates’.
A man’s been remanded and will next appear at Bristol Crown Court next month following the incident at a car park of a pub in Pilning.
Scott's family have described him as 'leaving behind a void that will never be filled' - with the money from the fundraiser going to 'support and comfort' his grieving family - and help them with their funeral expenses and memorial services.
In tribute, the page says: "His sense of humor was legendary and his loss will be felt from all over Bristol such was the reach of his infectious personality.
"Scott was a highly regarded local footballer playing for clubs such as Mangotsfield United, Clevedon Town and Bath City to name but a few. Everyone who played with him would name him one of their funniest teammates and stories of Scott are still shared and talked about by everyone he played with."
Next week, on March 17th, there will be a special game at Mangotsfield United's ground, when they take on Louis Carey XI.
A statement released by Avon and Somerset Police following the incident on March 2nd said: "
"Emergency services attended the scene in Redwick Road at about 12.15am following a reported assault, from where Scott Hendy was taken to Southmead Hospital.
"Sadly the 46-year-old died in hospital yesterday (Sunday 3 March). His next of kin are aware. Our thoughts are with them and they are receiving specialist support from family liaison officers.
"A forensic post-mortem examination will be conducted.
"George Baylis, of Redwick Road, Pilning, was charged with grievous bodily harm without intent prior to Mr Hendy’s death. The 29-year-old appeared at Bristol Magistrates Court today (Monday 4 March) where an alternative charge of manslaughter was put before the court.
"Baylis was remanded and will next appear at Bristol Crown Court on Monday 8 April."
