Nineteen firefighters, three ambulances, the air ambulance and several police officers were initially called to Buncombe Hill to reports of a crash.

It turned out to be an uninsured driver who'd come off the road after deciding to take their friends for a drive in the snow - police issued Covid tickets, as well as seizing the vehicle, saying the incident could have been avoided.

A fire crew from Nether Stowey and a heavy rescue Vehicle from Taunton were called to the scene.

A spokesperson for the service said: "On arrival the incident commander confirmed one vehicle had collided with the bank resulting in two females trapped within the vehicle.

"Crews got to work stabilising the vehicle using stabfast and making efforts to access the vehicle using small tools.

"Two females were extricated from the vehicle and checked over by on scene paramedics.

"Duty of care was left in the hands of police. "
