Temporary speed limit planned for part of Wiltshire's A303
It's due to be part of a road safety survey
A temporary speed limit is due to be introduced for part of the A303 through Wiltshire.
The 40 mph restrictions are to be put in place by National Highways at Chicklade.
It's expected to be in effect for at least a year, while a road safety survey is carried out there.
South West Wiltshire MP Andrew Murrison has been calling for improved safety there for many years, and has welcomed the speed limit:
"This is most welcome news. There are further issues that need addressing such as pedestrian access which I hope will feature in the safety survey. In the long term, I look forward to the village being bypassed as part of the planned comprehensive dualling of the A303."
The stretch of the A303 at Chicklade is notorious for accidents.
Just last week, three people were taken to hospital following a crash there.
National Highways revealed the plans for the safety survey and speed restriction to local residents during a parish meeting last week.
