Teenager charged with murder after 18-year-old dies in Bath

A teenager from South London has been remanded in custody - charged with murder.

It follows the death of 18-year-old Ben Moncrieff who died at the scene after suffering critical injuries in the Southgate Street area of Bath in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Three people were arrested - two were released without charge, but a third was kept in police custody on suspicion of murder.

Today (May 8), it's been confirmed a 15-year-old male - who we can't identify for legal reasons - has now been remanded in custody and set to appear before magistrates in Bristol.

In a statement, Avon and Somerset Police said: "A 15-year-old male, from south London, has been remanded to appear before magistrates in Bristol today (Monday 8 May).

"He has been charged with murder of 18-year-old Ben Moncrieff and possession of a bladed article.

"Ben’s family have been updated of the charging decision and will continue to be supported by specially-trained officers."
