Police searching property after reports of man with firearm

A man has been arrested in south Bristol on suspicion of being in possession of a firearm without a certificate

Avon and Somerset Police were called to Kenmare Road, in south Bristol, at around 7pm yesterday (Tuesday 11 July).

They had received a call from a member of the public who had seen a man they believed to be carrying a firearm.

Armed officers were deployed who located a man matching the description given by the caller.

He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a firearm without a certificate.

Officers say while a firearm has not been located, a thorough search of a property linked to the man is being carried out as part of their investigation into the incident.

Police wnquiries are ongoing.
