Person dies following Bath flat fire
The cause is thought to be accidental
A person has died following a flat fire in Bath.
Three crews from Avon Fire and Rescue were called to the Walcot area at 2.03am on Sunday morning (5 December).
Four firefighters tackled the blaze, which is thought to be accidental.
Despite best efforts, one person was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
A spokesperson from Avon Fire and Rescue said:
"Crews from Bath, Hicks Gate and Kingswood responded to reports of a flat fire.
"On arrival, crews found one flat well alight.
"Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus for safety used two high pressure hose reels, one 45mm jet, one 45mm covering jet, positive pressure ventilation fans and a triple extension ladder to extinguish the blaze.
"Sadly, one person was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.
"The cause of the fire is thought to be accidental."
