No cycle link being built as part of A358 scheme
Hopes that a multi-million road upgrade to reduce congestion in Somerset could include a brand new cycling link have been dashed

Campaigners say they're disappointed the A358 dual carriageway plans will not include a new cycling link between Taunton and Ilminster.
More than 1,000 people signed a petition as part of the recent consultation into the congestion-cutting dualling plans.
National Highways this week wrote to campaigners to say they would support a cycle route along existing country lanes instead - as it would be more accessible.
The A359 Taunton to Southfields project has a projected budget of between ÂŁ250 and ÂŁ500 million.
Kat Liddington, Senior Project Manager for the A358 Taunton to Southfields scheme, said: “Throughout our development of the scheme, we have worked to ensure we are creating a safer and more accessible route for walking, cycling and horse-riding groups.
“We’ll continue to explore options for further improvements and will liaise with Taunton Area Cycling Campaign, and other interested parties, as we finalise the scheme’s design ahead of our DCO application later this year.”
