Visitors to the Recreation Ground in Calne will soon be able to use a new eco-toilet.

The new toilet, which is more environmentally friendly than a standard toilet as it is waterless, was delivered to the site on October 26, and is expected to be open to visitors within the next two weeks once installation has been completed.

Calne Town Councillors approved the purchase of the new toilet at a meeting of Full Council in July.

The Council say it is part of its commitment to climate emergency measures.

The eco-toilet is the first in a series of improvements to the Recreation Ground that will be happening over the coming months which will see more facilities become available to residents and visitors.

Director of Council Services at Calne Town Council, Mr Steve Nash said, ‘Our Councillors are making positive changes in the town which will encourage more visitors – which will help local business, and support local residents while maintaining support for the climate emergency.’
