National Orchestra of Ukraine coming to Bath

Our city will be their first stop on a UK tour

This tour will be the first time in 22 years that the orchestra has visited the UK to perform.

The National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine will tour the UK later this year, and it's been revealed their first show will be in Bath.

The orchestra will visit for three weeks in October and November this year, starting at Bath Forum on Tuesday, October 17, also visiting city's including London, Cardiff and Manchester.

The Bath concert is being organised by Bristol's venue, the Bristol Beacon, while it is out of action during a major refurbishment.

This tour will be the first time in 22 years that the orchestra has visited the UK to perform.

The ticket capacity for the show will be limited to 150 people.

Bristol Beacon’s artistic director, Todd Wills says: “This historic tour is an opportunity to show that the people of the UK support them and recognise the importance of Ukrainian culture.”

The performance at Bath Forum will include special pieces by renowned Ukrainian composer Boris Lyatoshynsky.

Most of The National Symphony Orchestra members have remained in Kyviv since Russia invaded Ukraine, and 2 male members of the orchestra are currently conscripted to the Ukraine military.

Tour members and the 17 UK venues are also promoting a fund raiser and all proceeds will go directly to the orchestra.

Alexander Hornostai, NSOU director and producer looks forward to returning to the UK, Alexander says: “We can’t wait to return to the UK after more than two decades and have the opportunity to perform to UK audiences all over the country.”
