It happened at around 9.30pm on Monday night (02/11) near Pertwood, just one mile north of the junction with the A303.

A grey Citroen Berlingo van, which was travelling north, left the road and collided with a tree.

The driver, a local man in his 20s, was taken to Southampton Hospital with serious head, leg and internal injuries. He currently remains in hospital in a serious condition.

No other vehicles are believed to have been involved and nobody else was injured.

The road was closed for a number of hours while emergency services dealt with the incident and carried out collision investigation work. It reopened at around 3am.

PC Geoff Stephens, from Wiltshire Police's collision investigation unit, said: "We would like to speak to anyone who was driving on that section of road around the time of the collision and believes they saw the grey van.

"If you witnessed the collision, or saw the van beforehand, or if you have dash cam footage which could assist our enquiries, please contact us."

Anyone with information should call PC Stephens on 101, quoting reference 54200110033. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
