A man is recovering after suffering what police believe to be a random attack in Warminster.

The victim, in his 60s, was assaulted as he walked through the Cornmarket between approximately 8.45pm and 9pm on Friday night.

He fell to ground and suffered a head injury.

Police say they believe the offender was a white man, aged in his 30s, of stocky build with a short stubbly beard. It is possible he was wearing a green jacket.

They are asking anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen or heard anything suspicious, to contact them on 101 quoting crime reference number 54220127342.
