A man in Chippenham has been arrested by local police after a number of stalking incidents.

They say the man - who's in his 40s - was taken in after he allegedly followed a 12-year-old schoolgirl whilst she was walking home from school.

The incidents are alleged to have happened in the Queens Crescent and Cepen Park South areas, and 'extensive enquiries' have been carried out by the police ever since the incidents, which are reported to have happened back in February and March this year.

He has been taken to a local police station for further questioning.

From Chippenham Police, Sgt Jamie Ball said: “I hope news of this arrest provides reassurance to the community that we take reports of this nature extremely seriously. If you wish to report an incident please do not hesitate to call us.”
