The Knife Angel has officially left the West Country - as it continues on its tour of the country in a bid to raise awareness of knife crime.

It comes as today (31 May) we are exclusively revealing funding from our charity, Cash For Kids, is being used to install new bleed kits across the region - three of which are already in place.

Yesterday (30 May), a special ceremony took place in Weston-super-Mare to mark the end of the Knife Angel's time in our part of the world - having also been in Taunton back in April.

The event took place on the Grand Pier's boardwalk before heading to a short candlelit procession through the Sovereign Centre - and across to the Italian Gardens, where the Knife Angel has been standing throughout much of the month of May.

It's been confirmed around 85,000 people walked past the Knife Angel during its time in Weston-super-Mare - with it also being revealed that visitors from as far away as America, Dubai and Germany came to reflect in front of the statue.

Dozens of volunteers worked throughout its time at the Italian Gardens, whilst a number of art competitions also took place with local primary school students, as part of a legacy project.

The North Somerset Violence Reduction Partnership, along with organisations, also spoke with thousands of secondary school students about the Knife Angel, with a number of those taking part in special workshops - all to highlight the dangers of knife crime.

The statue is now on its way to Sunderland.
