A retired Somerset combat medic has been telling us why he’s heading back to the frontline in Ukraine.

Steve Brooks, 47, from Shepton Mallet leaves this weekend for his third trip there,

He’s part of a team taking emergency medical supplies and teaching people out there life-saving skills.

Ahead of leaving on Sunday, Steve and team have raised more than £2,500 to help fund the trip and equipment - but warn donations are still needed and say money will continue to be accepted while they are away to help with their relief effort.

Steve said: "Together we can make a direct impact on the lives of people who face another year of war and the threat of being bombed shot or occupied, in a war they didn't ask for and can't escape.

"Every penny raised will be invested in the mission and used to buy the supplies needed to keep us going such as fuel, food, medical supplies, and repairs to the vehicle."
