A record breaking capacity crowd of 2,500 wasn't enough for third-tier Bridgwater United Women to beat off Manchester United in the women's FA CUP.

The home game at Fairfax Park yesterday saw Former Manchester United Manager Ole Gunna Solskjaer travel to Somerset to watch his daughter Karna make her debut for the northern side.

The Somerset club's previous best ticket sales for a game was 1,112 and so yesterday tickets almost doubled for the game - which the club now hopes to build on.

Less than six months into its creation Bridgwater lost 2-nil to United, but afterwards the club tweeted: "We fought right to the end but it wasn’t enough.

"However we have done ourselves proud. Thank you for your incredible support today!"

One fan afterwards posted: "Well your girls inspired my girls!! A 9 year old and an 11 year old have had a fantastic day, feeling very proud of the Bridgy girls!"
