EXCLUSIVE: "It's going to get harder to tackle racism"

In an exclusive interview to mark the end of Black History Month, the Mayor of Bristol Marvin Rees has told us it is going to get harder to tackle racism.

Speaking to our reporter James Diamond in his office in City Hall, Mr Rees, who is the first directly elected black mayor of a major European city, said economic problems will make tackling racial inequality more difficult.

In a wide ranging conversation also covering the state of society today, the toppling of the Edward Colston statue, education and his legacy, Marvin also told us that the statue will be on display by "early next year" and reiterated it will be up to the whole city of Bristol, to decide what replaces it on the now empty plinth in the city centre.
