Emery Gate car park in Chippenham will temporarily close at the end of this week until the end of July.

Wiltshire Council has announced the closure to allow for essential structural works to take place from Sunday 16th January.

These works will be carried out in stages to reduce disruption and to ensure alternative parking is still available for use, the council said.

It added that the Sadlers Mead multi-storey will be available as alternative parking during the works.

Cabinet member for transport Dr Mark McClelland said: "While we hope to keep disruption and inconvenience to a minimum, these works and closures are essential to complete structural works in the car park.

"Other car parks will be available for the public and will be made clearly visible with appropriate signage.

"I would like to take the opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience that it these works may cause."
