The Royal United Hospital (RUH) in Bath is set to open the new Dyson Cancer Centre this autumn.

With 900 people working on the cancer unit at the hospital’s Combe Park site, the RUH says it marks a successful year of construction.

Building work on the cancer unit started in July 2021.

Libby Walters, RUH Deputy Chief Executive said: “It’s very exciting to kick off 2023 knowing that this is the year the Dyson Cancer Centre will welcome patients and their loved ones.

“We’ve spoken a lot about the special design and construction of the centre, and the wonderful art and interior design, but of course it’s our staff who will make the biggest difference."

The new centre will help treat hundreds of thousands of patients from all across the South West, as well as housing oncology, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and research teams.

Most of the scaffolding around the Dyson Cancer Centre has now been removed and the three-storey glass atrium that will provide the main entrance is now visible.

The Dyson Cancer Centre is funded by an £4 million donation from The James Dyson Foundation.
