Chippenham Town defender in 'good spirits' after collapse
Their match against Chelmsford City on Saturday was abandoned following the incident
Chippenham Town FC have issued an update regarding defender Pablo Martinez, after he collapsed during their match with Chelmsford City on Saturday (13 August).
The club say despite the incident, he's in "good spirits" - and is awaiting various tests to determine his way forward.
In a statement, they said: "Pablo has expressed his sincere appreciation to everyone who went to his assistance during Saturday's game.
"The Board likewise wishes to acknowledge those efforts including from the players, playing staff, Club medical staff and attendant paramedic, the emergency services and also our visitors, Chelmsford City. Without their, and others’ prompt actions, a very different outcome might have resulted.
"On behalf of everyone connected with Chippenham including our supporters, we wish Pablo a very speedy recovery and hope to see him around the ground as soon as possible.
"The Club also acknowledges and adds its thanks for the many messages of support for Pablo we have received."

Martinez collapsed in the centre circle 27 minutes into the game on Saturday. The match was abandoned as a result.
At the time, the club confirmed that had been stabilised and that his condition was "not life-threatening".
Martinez came through the academy at West Bromwich Albion from the age of 16. He was released from the club at the end of the 2019–20 season.
He played for various clubs after this - including Bristol Rovers - before he joined Chippenham last month (15 July 2022).
