Some people in Chippenham are left without water (1st March) after a mains pipe burst yesterday.

Wessex Water is carrying out urgent repairs and say people living in the SN15 area are still affected.

The company has apologised for the inconvenience and is handing out free bottles of water at Pewsham Community Centre, Cricketts Lane and Eastern Avenue.

In a post on X, Wessex Water have said: "Repairs are progressing in #Chippenham but due to the nature of the work some customers in the SN14 area of Chippenham may now be experiencing no water or low pressure.

"We are really sorry for the inconvenience and reassure customers we are working as quickly as we can.

"This repair is taking longer than we would normally expect.

"We're continuing to replenish stocks of bottled water at Pewsham Community Centre SN15 3SY."

Angry customers have taken to X to vent their frustration.

"We’ve have no communication from Wessex water at all and have only found out about the water at Pewsham from social media," said one, "really poor considering you have phone and email details for our household."

"There's going to be queues for water like a COVID jab centre!" said another.

Wessex Water have advised water may be discoloured when it returns to customers.
