An investigation is underway after two men died in a car crash in rural Somerset last night.

Avon and Somerset Police say they think at least three cars were involved in the collision at around quarter to midnight on the A36 near Hinton Charterhouse.

A man and a woman who were also injured needed hospital treatment, but the police say their injuries are neither life threatening nor life changing.

The road was closed until 8:15am this morning while specialist investigators examined the scene and the vehicles involved were recovered.

Anyone who witnessed what happened or has dashcam footage, is asked to call 101 and provide the call handler with the reference 5221156383.
