Bin collections 'managing again' after being hit by staff Covid isolations
Bin collections across Somerset have been returning to normal after delays in some areas following the festive period
Somerset's Waste Partnership say collections are getting back on track, after Covid-related staff absences added to Christmas disruption.
In their latest update, bosses say the vast majority of their 400,000-plus weekly collections are 'running smoothly'.
Earlier this month bosses had to prioritise rubbish and clinical waste collections and reschedule some pick ups - with parts of South Somerset and the Mendips hardest hit.
MD Mickey Green said: "It's manageable at the moment.
"We have obviously got higher levels of staff off with Covid.
"We've just completed that post Christmas and post New year catch up so the crews have been working incredibly hard as ever.
"There has been a small amount of disruption so I apologise to those that were affected.
"At the moment it's less bad than we feared but we're still keep a close eye on things."
