Bath Rugby to put Rec redevelopment plans on public display
They'll be available to view at their last home game of the season and again the week after
Formal designs for the redevelopment of Bath Rugby's stadium will go on public display next month.
The club has revealed the news today (14 March) saying they will be available to view at their final home game of the season versus Saracens, on Saturday 6 May, between 2pm and 4pm.
For anyone who does not come to the game, they will then go on display at Widcombe Social Club the following Wednesday 10 May, from 11am to 7pm.
Bath Rugby have been keen to redevelop The Rec for years and hope to increase capacity to 18,000, while improving accessibility and providing a new permanent home for the Bath Rugby Foundation.
Bath Rugby Chief Executive Tarquin McDonald said: “After decades of conversation, we are confident the plans we will submit this summer will both excite and reassure the people of Bath.
“Our club, your club, is the heart of our city and now is the time to bring a stadium that will service world-class men’s and women’s rugby, and our community, all year-round.”
In a statement the club says previous designs shared before the pandemic have evolved and the project team "are looking forward" to sharing their new proposals.
As part of the redevelopment, the public riverside space to the West of The Rec will be widened creating a more inviting and usable space, on matchdays and non-matchdays, and the structure itself will allow for greater community use.
Sustainability and environmentally friendly materials, the club says, are key to the new proposals.
The plans will also be available to view on the Bath Rugby website.
