Work to stop the Ayr Station Hotel being demolished has been halted as its owner enters a legal battle with the council.

Property tycoon Sunny Ung is accusing council chiefs of demolishing the hotel without giving him any notice.

There will be a hearing this Friday in Edinburgh's Court of Session where council bosses will argue the case for bringing it down.

Train services south of Ayr have been suspended since September last year when it went up in flames.
