Two teenagers are recovering after being seriously injured in an incident in Greenock.

The 16 and 17 year old boys were taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital on Thursday afternoon, and they have since been released.

Officers are appealing for information about the disturbance, which happened at the sports centre carpark on Nelson Street on Thursday afternoon, at around half past two.

Detective Constable Ruth Elder said: “Our enquiries so far indicate that a group of youths were seen in the area at the time and they left the car park in the direction of the town centre.

“We are keen to speak to them or anyone else who may be able to help with our investigation into this incident.

“We believe several members of the public may have seen what happened and we are asking them to come forward.”

Anyone who can assist is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3231 of Thursday, 1 February, 2024.
