Red Arrows to return to International Ayr Show - Festival of flight
The iconic RAF display team will be on show over Ayr's Low Green on both days of this year's event - Friday 5th and Saturday 6th September
The Red Arrows will once again take to the sky above Ayr’s Low Green this September as they return to the International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight 2025.
The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team topped the bill in 2023 but missed last year’s event due to a scheduling conflict.
South Ayrshire Council has now confirmed the team will perform their signature aerobatic display on both days of this year’s festival, Friday 5th and Saturday 6th September.
This year's theme is "The Royal Air Force in Scotland"
With the theme for this year's festival being “The Royal Air Force in Scotland”, The Red Arrows will be joined on the lineup by other RAF aircraft such as the Typhoon, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the RAF Falcons Parachute display team.
CEO of theSKYLAB, Dr Geoff Coxon, said: "When we applied for military support for the airshow in September 2024 we wanted to have the Red Arrows for both days. We are absolutely delighted that they have chosen to support us fully, especially as we had exceptionally strong competition internationally this year. It clearly shows how important our airshow has become in the display calendar and how much Scotland means to the Royal Air Force".
South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Tourism, Culture and Rural Affairs, Councillor Alec Clark said: "It's very exciting to be able to confirm that the Red Arrows will headline the International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight. It's also an honour to welcome the beautifully preserved aircraft of the BBMF to the skies over Ayr, and I'm sure aviation enthusiasts will be delighted to see the lineup of new and returning aircraft at the festival this year."
Flight schedule "shaping up to be really special"
South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Sport and Leisure, Councillor Brian Connolly, said: "It's excellent news that we've been able to secure all RAF assets for the 2025 airshow. The flight schedule is shaping up to be really special, and seeing the Red Arrows flying their Hawk T1 aircraft in formation will undoubtedly be a highlight for both locals and visitors."
Leader of South Ayrshire Council, Councillor Martin Dowey, said: "It's the announcement we've all been waiting for! I'm sure visitors will be delighted to see the Red Arrows top the bill. There's a lot to look forward to at the airshow this September, and these spectacular aircraft are sure to draw crowds to Ayr's Low Green."
