Two girls, 15, charged with assaulting woman in Prestwick leaving 'severe' injuries

Two teenage girls have been charged with assaulting a woman and causing ‘severe’ injuries last week.

The two girls, both aged 15, were charged after the incident took place on Prestwick’s Main Street on 29 July 2023 at around 8pm.

The victim of the assault was a 47-year-old woman.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Two girls aged 15 have been charged in connection with an assault to severe injury on a female aged 47, which took place on Main Street, Prestwick. It happened around 8 pm on 29 July 2023. A report will be sent to the Scottish Children’s Reporter and Procurator Fiscal.

Police are now stepping up efforts to monitor anti-social behaviour in Ayr, Prestwick and surrounding areas.

The spokesperson added: “Reassurance patrols shall continue this weekend across known hotspots within South Ayrshire to identify anyone involved in antisocial behaviour.”
