Ayrshire's new Maybole Community Campus is expected to open up this August.

The school complex will accommodate pupils from Carrick Academy, Culzean Primary and St Cuthbert's primary as well as the Culzean early years centre.

A new swimming pool will be completed later this year and opened for public use after the New Year.

A second all-weather pitch is ahead of schedule and is set to be finished before Christmas.

Spiralling costs

Inflation and delays to the sale of extra land meant, however, that the construction of the second sports pitch could see an increase of £1.4 million.

The plans for the new school were unveiled five years ago by the local authority.

The works on the main school campus started in September 2021.

Pupils and their parents will be issued with further information before they return to their new classrooms on the first school day, on Thursday 24 August.
