Largs Library remains closed to public after weekend fire
Fire crews extinguished a blaze in the building after reports of smoke coming from the library on Saturday morning.

Largs Library remains closed to the public after a weekend fire.
Fire crews were called to the scene early on Saturday 20 May at around 8am, after reports of smoke within the premises.
They rushed to the library on Allanpark Street in Largs and put out a small fire in the toilets, before leaving the area shortly after.
There were no casualties in the incident, and emergency services declared the area was safe before leaving at 9:15am.
However, the building remains closed today with North Ayrshire Council directing people to other towns for library access.
A spokesperson for North Ayrshire Council said: “Unfortunately, there was a fire in Largs Library on Saturday, May 20. “The fire was discovered before the library opened to the public and, thankfully, nobody was hurt. “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident, and the fire was quickly contained.
“The library will remain closed today – Monday, May 22 – for Council staff to carry out safety checks and to allow for a deep clean of the building. “We will reassess the situation today and will advise the public of a likely reopening date.
“Library services continue to be available in Fairlie, Skelmorlie and West Kilbride, and are also accessible 24/7 via our online service.”
A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: ““We were alerted at 8.05am on Saturday, 20 May to reports of smoke within a public premises on Allanpark Street, Largs.
"Operations Control mobilised one appliance to the scene, where firefighters extinguished a small fire within the toilets.
“There were no reported casualties and the crew left at 9.14am after ensuring the area was safe."
