Girvan restaurant temporarily closed after chef attacked
A 27-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with the incident on Tuesday

A man has been arrested and charged after a chef in Girvan was found on the street with severe injuries.
Following the incident, a Chinese restaurant in Girvan was forced to close after their chef was attacked.
Police say they were called to reports of a man injured on Old Street on Tuesday 22 August at around 1pm.
A spokesperson said: “Around 1pm on Tuesday, 22 August 2023, we were called to a report of a 39-year-old man found injured in the Old Street area of Girvan.
“Emergency services attended, and he was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
“A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is expected to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 23 August, 2023.”
The 27-year-old who was arrested has been named as Glasgow man Xong He.
He appeared in Ayr Sheriff Court yesterday charged with assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement & danger of life.
He made no plea and was remanded in custody until his next appearance in court which is due in the next week.
Following the incident, the Girvan Restaurant China Moon took to social media to thank people for their understanding after being forced to close the venue.
They said: “Thank you so much for all the people who were there to help him for me.
“He is in a safe place now and has no life-threatening injuries. We will come back to serve you again in the future. Take care and stay safe.”
