Candidates announced for Arran by-election
The election for the seat will be held next month
The candidates for next month’s Arran by-election have been confirmed by North Ayrshire Council.
The vote is set to be held on Thursday 12 September, to replace Councillor Timothy Billings, following his recent resignation.
Following the nomination deadline earlier today, the candidates are as follows:
• Charles Currie, Scottish Labour Party
• James Andrew McMaster, Independent
• Mackenzie Smith, Scottish Conservative and Unionist
• Matt Taylor, Scottish Liberal Democrats
• Carole Thomson, Reform UK
• Neil Alexander Wilkinson, Scottish Greens
Voting will begin at 7am on September 12, and will close at 10pm, with the electronic count set to take place the following day.
Registration for voting will be open until midnight on Tuesday 27 August, with the deadline to apply for a proxy or postal vote being 5pm on Wednesday 28.
Anyone who is already registered will receive their poll cards starting this week, while postal voting packs will be expected to be issues from Friday, August 30.
