Calmac issues warning to travellers hoping to spend Easter on Arran
Many sailings are already fully booked as holidaymakers look to enjoy the sun
Families thinking about a spur-of-the-moment trip to the Isle of Arran this Easter holiday weekend could be out of luck.
Calmac Ferries is warning travellers that there might not be enough room for non-booked passengers.
The company says the lunchtime sailing to the island is already fully booked today (Friday April 7), for both cars and foot passengers.
The voyage returning to the mainland later this afternoon is also full.
There are warnings to travellers for both today and tomorrow (Saturday April 8) to book ahead to avoid disappointment.
For the last few months, a smaller ship has been used for the service because of major repairs needed to the usual vessel.
Bosses say passengers should expect limited space as they deal with high demand.
A statement from Calmac reads: "Due to a smaller vessel operating this service, space is more limited on board.
"Non-booked foot passengers may not be able to be accommodated on their preferred sailing.
"Consequently, all foot passengers are strongly encouraged to book their chosen sailing due to anticipated high demand.
"Please be advised the 12:30 sailing departing Ardrossan and the 16:40 from Brodick are now fully booked for passengers."
