Police in North Ayrshire have launched an appeal for information after a car was deliberately set on fire during the weekend.

Officers were called to the scene on the A737 on the night of Saturday December 2 at around 11:30pm.

Upon arrival a silver BMW on fire was discovered near the busy road's Dalry bypass.

However, Police are treating the fire as wilful and are now appealing to anyone that was near the area around the same time for information or video footage.

Detective Sergeant Andrea Templeton said: “Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone with information to get in touch.

“We would also ask anyone driving in the area at the time who has dash-cam footage to contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 4165 of Saturday, 2 December, 2023. Alternatively, calls can be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
