The long-awaited return of South Ayrshire’s air show is only a few weeks away, and the council have revealed the list of road closures set to be impacted by the weekend festival.

South Ayrshire Council have put around £250,000 into bringing back the air show with the hopes of giving a boost to the local economy.

With a number of aerial displays confirmed including the RAF Red Arrows and the Spitfire, and a full festival village mapped out near the esplanade, it’s gearing up to be a weekend to remember for the town.

However, with a large event returning to the centre of the town, it brings a number of road closures with it, that will cause some problems for motorists and some local residents.

More than 25 streets and lanes will be closed off to the public on the weekend between September 8-10, for the International Ayr Show: Festival of Flight.

'Affected residents to receive letters shortly'

A statement from South Ayrshire Council said: “The Council has written to affected residents, who will shortly receive letters with detailed information and any required permits where appropriate.

“Emergency vehicles will still have access to all affected routes.”

Dozens of other roads will also be impacted by the festival, and the full list of closures and temporary no waiting areas can be found here.
