Ferry services on the west coast of Scotland today could be cancelled due to the bad weather, CalMac has warned.

The ferry operator has issued a warning on social media about its afternoon, with all services from 12:30 onwards at risk of being cancelled.

It’s after the Caledonian Isles ferry was forced to berth in Brodick last night due to the sailing conditions.

The overnight berth consequentially meant that CalMac had to cancel the 7am service from Ardrossan this morning.

Now, the weather has caused more doubts for the fleet as strong winds and sea swells continue today.

CalMac has said customers should be prepared to have their trip affected as a result.

They said: “Due to forecast strong winds and sea swell, all sailings from 12:30 onwards are liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice.”

It comes as nearly all of Scotland is in store for a yellow weather warning on Saturday and Sunday.

The Met Office website reads: “Heavy and persistent rain this weekend may cause flooding and disruption across parts of Scotland.

“Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.

“Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life.

“Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible.

“Spray and flooding is likely to lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures”.
