Teenage girl dead and four in hospital after serious crash in South Ayrshire

A 17-year-old girl has died after a two vehicle crash between Shalloch Park Roundabout and Pinmore.

A teenage girl has died after a serious crash in Ayrshire yesterday.

The two-vehicle crash happened at around 10am on Thursday 14 December on the A714 between Shalloch Park Roundabout and Pinmore.

It involved a blue Volkswagen Polo and a white Ford Transit van.

The driver of the car was a 17-year-old girl and was prounounced dead at the scene by emergency services.

Four other passengers were also in the car. A 39-year-old woman and three-year-old girl suffered serious injuries and were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

The two other passengers were also 17-year-old girls who suffered minor injuries and were taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock.

The 35-year-old male driver of the van was uninjured.

Inspector Craig Beaver, of Ayrshire’s Roads Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the female who died, and everyone affected by this tragic incident.

“An investigation to establish the full circumstances of this collision are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information to get in touch.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the road around the time of the incident.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 0947 of 14 December, 2023.”
