A woman has been found guilty of murdering a man at an Aberdeen high-rise.

Elizabeth Sweeney, 35, has been on trial at the High Court in Aberdeen for 10 days, accused of murdering Neil Jolly, 49, at his flat in Marischal Court in June 2023.

Mr Jolly was said to have been punched and repeatedly struck on the head and body with a kettle.

The murder is said to have occurred between June 22 and 26.

Sweeney denied the charges and entered a special defence of self defence, claiming Mr Jolly raped her.

However, a jury has found her guilty of Mr Jolly’s murder.

She was acquitted of other charges brought against her, including attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

Sentencing is due to take place next month.
