Two men arrested after Aberdeenshire man, 75, targeted in cryptocurrency fraud
The two men were arrested in England after an Aberdeenshire man lost a six-figure sum.
Two men have been arrested in connection with cryptocurrecy fraud after an Aberdeenshire man was scammed out of a six-figure sum of money.
The incident involving a 75-year-old man was reported to police in July last year.
Today, North East division CID officers travelled to Coventry and Mexborough, assisting West Midlands and South Yorkshire Police.
Two men, aged 36 and 54 were arrested and charged in connection with fraud offences.
A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
Detective Sergeant David Williamson said: “This operation demonstrates our commitment to ensuring people are protected from fraud. We will do everything in our power to bring those responsible to justice.
“I would also encourage members of the public to be mindful of activity which appears fraudulent and to report this to police.”
