Student dies at Robert Gordon University Campus

Emergency services were called to Robert Gordon University (RGU) on Wednesday 20 November following the sudden death of a 19-year-old woman.

Robert Gordon University is paying tribute to a student found dead at the campus on Wednesday morning.

Emergency services were called to Robert Gordon University (RGU) on Garthdee Road, Aberdeen at around 10.15am on 20 November following the sudden death of a 19-year-old woman.

RGU has confirmed the woman was a student at the university.

In a statement, it said it is liaising with emergency services and is supporting the student's family as well as students.

Police said her next of kin have been made aware and the death is being treated as unexplained with enquiries ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Garthdee Road, Aberdeen around 10.15am on Wednesday, 20 November, 2024 following the sudden death of a 19-year-old woman.

“Next of kin have been made aware.

"Her death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.”

And a statement from RGU said: “RGU can sadly confirm that the body of a student was found on its campus yesterday (Wednesday 20 November).

"The University is liaising with the emergency services and is supporting the student's family as well as the entire University community.

"This is a very sad situation and our thoughts are with the student’s family and friends."
