Tributes continue for dad of seven who died in Aberdeen following alleged assault
More than £2,000 has been raised so far for Steven Johnson
A fundraiser has raised more than £2,000 so far for an Aberdeen dad and granddad who died last week.
Steven Johnson was allegedly assaulted on Carmelite Lane on the evening of Sunday 12 March as he celebrated his upcoming birthday.
He never returned home, and was pronounced dead at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on Tuesday 14 March.
'Five boys...they've lost their Dad'
Family friend Mhairi Conway has helped arrange a fundraiser in memory of Steven.
"The whole family are understandably absolutely destroyed, their loving Dad/Grandfather has been stolen away from them and they’ve been robbed of making any more memories, having any more laughs, drinks or hugs", reads part of the tribute on the GoFundMe page.

"No child should ever have to see their Dad on life support and it being turned off.. that is an image they’re going to have to live with for life."
Mhairi, whose brother is Steven's son-in-law, says the pain his kids are going through is "unimaginable".
"Five boys, they're all still very young, they've lost their Dad.
"It's hard to say how they feel exactly, I just know they are broken.
"I don't know how those wee boys feel, I can't imagine it. How they're ever going to be able to go into town and not re-live everything...it's unimaginable."
'He was a huge social person, very family orientated.'
"Steven had went out for his birthday, no one expected for him to not come home", continued Mhairi.
"He was 50-years-old, he just wanted to gout and celebrate and have a good time.
"He loved his football, he was a huge Leyton Orient fan. He was part of his darts team, I'd like to give a thank you to them for how much they donated (£415).
"You can tell just from the comments that have been left on social media that he has touched a lot of people".
