A former youth football coach and sea cadet officer found guilty of sex attacks on young boys has died in jail.

William Hay was serving time in HMP Barlinnie for abusing ten victims in Aberdeen and Perthshire over a 35-year period.

The 74-year-old targeted the youths between 1981 and 2016.

The boys were all aged between ten and 15 at the time of the attacks.

Hay was convicted of a total of 12 sexual assault charges following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow in 2021.
