'Possible ordnance' found at Buckie Harbour

A Moray harbour has been sealed off after a "possible ordnance" was found.

Emergency services were called out to Buckie earlier this afternoon.

The harbour was shut down after the incident was reported at around 2pm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2pm on Monday, 18 March, 2024, we received a report of a possible ordnance found at Buckie Harbour.

"A cordon is in place and Explosive Ordnance Disposal is aware."

HM Coastguard were also called out to the incident, but they say the object poses "no danger."

A spokesperson said: "Police Scotland made us aware of suspected ordnance that had been dredged up at Buckie Harbour.

"Alerted at around 2.30pm today, 18 March, Buckie Coastguard Rescue Team was sent to the scene.

"After working in collaboration with other agencies, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit confirmed that the object was not ordnance and posed no danger."
