Three people have been taken to hospital after getting into difficulty in the water at Aberdeen Beach.

Police were called to reports of a man, woman, and young boy in the water at around 4pm on Sunday October 20.

Officers were supported by the Coastguard and the Scottish Ambulance Service, and all three were rescued from the water.

They have been taken to hospital for check ups.

"We would urge them to leave as soon as possible"

Police Scotland is urging members of the public to avoid the area due to the high winds and flooding risk from Storm Ashley, which has seen a yellow warning put in place across the country.

It will remain in place across the north and east until 9am on Monday.

Sergeant Scott McKay said: "We are aware of a number of people who are still in the beach area and we would urge them to leave as soon as possible for safety reasons.

"The weather we are experiencing is creating unsafe conditions and I would ask that you follow our advice."

Weather warnings are in place across parts of the country until tomorrow morning.
