One person has been injured after a potentially hazardous substance spill in Aberdeen.

Emergency services were called to South Esplanade East earlier.

The spillage has been cleared and police say there is no threat to the wider public.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 1.18pm on Thursday, 22 August, to an incident on South Esplanade East, Aberdeen, involving potentially hazardous materials.

"Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and specialist HAZMAT resources to the scene.

"One casualty was handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

"Firefighters have now left the scene after ensuring the area was safe."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Emergency services attended South Esplanade East, Aberdeen on Thursday, 22 August, 2024, where a substance had spilled on the ground.

“The spillage was within a confined area and there was no threat to the wider public.

“The spillage has been cleared.”
