An offshore rig has been evacuated after a supply vessel crashed into it.

Harbour Energy has confirmed 52 workers were flown to the mainland from the Valaris 120 installation this morning.

The rig, 150 miles east of Aberdeen, is a mobile platform with a buoyant hull.

The group says the evacuation after the collision around 10.20pm was a precautionary measure.

All crew have been reported safe and well.

A Harbour Energy spokesperson said: “Harbour Energy can confirm that as a precautionary measure, 52 non-essential personnel have been down manned from the VALARIS 120 installation located at Block 30/7A, following a collision between a supply vessel and the rig which occurred at 22.18 on Sunday 24th November.

“The non-essential personnel have been flown to Aberdeen on three separate flights this morning.

“People are our priority, and everyone onboard the rig and the vessel is safe and well.

“Our incident response teams have been mobilised and are in liaison with the relevant authorities.

“Further information will be made available when details are confirmed.”
