One Niall Horan fan had the experience of a lifetime when the One Direction star brought her up on stage to sing a duet.

The singer was performing at Aberdeen's P&J Live on Saturday night as part of his world tour.

Busker Isla Macdonald, who is from Aberdeen but now lives in South Lanarkshire, decided to take a chance and held up a sign which read 'Can I sing Lizzy's verse?' referring to Lizzy McAlpine's verse in 'You Could Start A Cult'.

After Niall already sang the song, she thought she had missed her opportunity.

However, when the singer asked to see all of the signs in the crowd she held it back up in the hopes he would notice.

Isla said her sign was the first one he recognised: "He looked right at it and it was the first one he seen. I mean, his reaction is on Tiktok and everything like that.

"I actually for a minute thought he was going to say 'no sorry we can't, we've already done it'.

"But everyone was cheering 'come on!' and when he said 'alright okay' - honestly it was like - they lifted me over the barrier and took me up the stairs at the side of the stage and I was just so emotional.

"The fact that it happened, all I've ever wanted to do is sing and have the impact that artists like Niall have on people."

As well as having a degree in music, Isla has spent a lot of time busking on the streets of Glasgow.

She explained getting on stage to sing at the 15,000 capacity venue wasn't daunting at all: "I didn't find that very daunting which sounds crazy.

"Years ago if you'd said that me I would have been like 'oh my gosh I can't do that' but now, it wasn't even that, I felt so safe in his presence that I was just like 'let's do this'."

3.4 million views on Instagram

Just as she thought it couldn't get any better, her friends alerted her to a post on Niall's Instagram account.

The singer posted a video of the pair singing the duet which now has 3.4 million views.

Isla continued: "A full video dedicated to me, it's just wild.

"My friends were like 'you need to check Instagram right now'.

"Lizzy McAlpine has actually commented on it. He has pinned by comment on it, it's just wild.

"Everyone has been so nice, they have been so kind and I honestly can't thank people enough for how kind they have been."

Niall is playing two more shows at London's O2 venue before heading to South America to complete his tour.
