Man dies after being struck by car in Peterhead

A man has died five days after being struck by a car in an Aberdeenshire town.

John Bannon, 61, from Peterhead died on Saturday 8 March at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he had been since the collision happened on Monday.

Emergency services were called to Queen Street at its junction with King Street after reports a pedestrian had been struck by a white Nissan X Trail.

Enquiries are continuing to establish the exact circumstances of the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Sergeant Eoin Maxwell said: "Our thoughts are with the family of Mr Bannon and everyone involved at this very difficult time.

"We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to please contact officers. In addition, we would appeal to anyone who may have dash-cam or CCTV footage which may assist to come forward."
